The proposed jetty design project is for ‘Underi’ fort near Mumbai, falling under Raigad district, Maharashtra. The ‘Underi’ sea fort is a fortified island built-in 1680 CE as a companion to the ‘Khanderi’seafort. The objective of this jetty design is to conserve and preserve the fort premises and to attract tourism to consequently aid in the economic and socio-cultural development of the region. The design serves recreational purposes by creating sunrise and sunset viewpoints, providing seating areas and benches to savor the beautiful and tranquil surroundings. The design is equipped with supporting facilities like snack kiosks, shops, space for vendors, drinking water, washrooms, restrooms, baby feeding rooms, shelters, first aid facilities, security rooms, lifeguards, and other such emergency provisions to tackle any mishaps. Electricity generation on-site will be facilitated by the use of solar panels and running a command room for maintenance and operation. The overall approach is to create an iconic design that engages the unique natural and built beauty of the location and leverages its rich historic and cultural value.
