The Megalithic Structure at Gorewada is an interpretive installation at Nagpur's Gorewada International Zoological Park, commemorating the prehistoric megalithic burial sites discovered during the park's development. DesignFakt's design creates a contemporary stone structure that echoes the geometry of the original burial monuments — large basalt slabs arranged in a dolmen-like configuration — while functioning as a shelter and contemplative space for visitors.
The design required close collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of India and the Forest Department to ensure that the installation respected both the archaeological significance of the site and the ecological requirements of the forest zone. The structure uses basalt stone quarried from the same geological formation as the original megaliths, establishing a material continuity across three thousand years. DesignFakt delivered complete architectural and structural design for the Forest Department.
