Kumzar Harbour

Kumzar serves one of Oman's most remote coastal communities — a village accessible only by sea, nestled in a narrow inlet of the Musandam fjords. DesignFakt's design for the new harbour facility prioritises operational resilience: robust construction suited to the exposed maritime environment, with protected basin infrastructure for fishing vessels and a modern fish landing centre.

The public waterfront spaces serve as the social heart of the village — the point of arrival and departure by which all of Kumzar's connections to the outside world pass. DesignFakt's design creates a generous harbourfront square with shaded seating and a small mosque, giving the harbour the civic quality that a community of this isolation deserves. Complete architectural and structural design delivered for the Government of Oman.
