Mahout Harbour

Mahout Harbour in Al Wusta Governorate is one of a series of new harbour facilities designed by DesignFakt for the Government of Oman as part of a national coastal infrastructure programme. The design creates a protected basin with modern jetty facilities, a fishing landing centre with refrigeration and processing, and public waterfront infrastructure serving the town of Mahout.

The buildings follow the simple geometry of Omani coastal architecture — flat roofs, whitewashed walls, and deep arcaded verandahs — adapted to the programmatic requirements of a modern fishing harbour. The public areas are designed to be comfortable in the extreme heat of the Arabian summer, with generous shade and natural ventilation throughout. DesignFakt delivered complete architectural and engineering design.
