MGIRI Rural Crafts Building
The MGIRI Rural Crafts, Engineering, Energy and Infrastructure Building provides workshop, studio, and classroom spaces for MGIRI's interdisciplinary programmes connecting traditional craft with engineering and sustainable energy technologies. The building's design reflects this programmatic synthesis: it is simultaneously workshop and classroom, production space and exhibition gallery.
The building is organised around a central courtyard — a shaded gathering space that references the traditional Indian baithak and village square while providing a flexible venue for outdoor demonstrations, exhibitions, and informal teaching. The courtyard is designed to be comfortable year-round: deeply shaded in summer, open to winter sun. DesignFakt delivered complete architectural and engineering design for MGIRI.
