Tribal Building

The Tribal Building provides administrative, cultural, and community facilities for Maharashtra's tribal development programme — a building that must serve both the functional requirements of government administration and the cultural identity of the communities it represents. DesignFakt's design draws on the material culture of the tribal communities of Vidarbha: locally quarried stone, exposed timber structure, and terracotta roof tiles integrated into a contemporary building form.

The building's layout follows the traditional Gondi village pattern — a central open space surrounded by rooms of varying size, with the most public functions at the perimeter and the most private at the core. This spatial logic creates a building that feels familiar to its users while meeting all contemporary institutional requirements. DesignFakt delivered complete design documentation for the Government of Maharashtra.
